Meet Our Team

Dr. Jack Custer

Jack graduated from OSUVMC in June of 2003. He is a native of Columbus and became the proud owner of Fifth and Kenny Animal Hospital in April of 2009. He shares his home with his 3 dogs and several cats. In his spare time he enjoys gardening and visiting local wineries.

Dr. Therese Allen

Dr. Allen has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Ohio State University. She graduated from veterinary school in 2001 from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Purdue University. She has been working as a veterinarian for 20 years, 8 of which were spent as an ER veterinarian. She has been with Fifth and Kenny for 7 years.

She wanted to be a veterinarian when she was 8 years old after growing up on a farm with many cats and dogs and various other animals. Dr. Allen’s favorite thing about working with animals is helping them feel better when they are ill and providing them comfort as they age. She knew she was in the right profession as soon as she graduated and was able to work directly with cats and dogs. As a veterinarian, her interests are soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

Dr. Allen’s family includes a wife, two children, two cats (Cheetah and Jackson) and a dog named Twig. She loves to read, go hiking with her family, and traveling.

Dr. Emily Falk

Dr. Emily Falk grew up in Grandview and attended OSU for undergrad (major in biology, minor in psychology) and veterinary school. She lived in North Carolina for a few years after graduating and moved back to Columbus to be closer to her family. She joined Fifth & Kenny Animal Hospital in 2020. Dr. Falk wanted to be a veterinarian since she was little (as early as kindergarten). She loves science and medicine, and animals provide the additional challenge of not being able to tell us the problem. Every time she is able to help an animal feel better validates her choice to be in the veterinary field. Dr. Falk is certified in veterinary acupuncture (CVA) and physical rehabilitation (CCRT). She is very interested in pain management and sports medicine. Acupuncture has opened up a whole new world of integrative medicine, allowing her to offer more to her patients through balancing the body and providing pain relief. She loves that physical rehabilitation allows older pets to maintain their independence and mobility at home and helps injured pets recover faster.

Dr. Falk lives in Grandview with her fiancé, two cats (Ari and Mooshu), and one dog (Griz). She has been riding horses since she was 8, and she owns a horse (Cal). She also enjoys working out, hiking, reading, and drawing.

KC joined the Fifth & Kenny Animal Hospital family in October 2011. She moved to Columbus in 2010 to join the Columbus State Community College Veterinary Technology program. She graduated in 2012 with her associate’s. KC decided to go into the veterinary field after getting her dog, Tate. She fell so in love him with at 19 and decided that she needed to work with animals. Her favorite thing about working with animals is the amount of joy they bring out in everyone, whether it be their owners telling stories about the crazy things they’ve done, to getting a scared dog to finally take a treat from your hand that shows you they do trust you. Or it can be the first time a cat comes out of the carrier and brushes against your leg. While these are small acts, these acts can turn your whole day around.

KC knew she was in the right profession the first time a client specifically asked for her to help with their animal. To know that not only the animal trust me, but also their owner solidified her choice in vet med.

She has been married to her husband, Larry, since 2013. She currently has 2 cats, Agnes and Cindy Clawford. When she is not at work, she enjoys watching TV, reading, traveling, and playing games.

Beckie joined our team in April, 2017. She attended Columbus State and graduated from their Veterinary Technician program. She has loved animals since she was a child and grew up with pets her whole life. Her pets are her world and her goal is to try and treat every patient like she would want her own pets to be treated. Beckie loves getting to know animals and their owners through the years and seeing how they change!

She knew she was in the right profession from being able to see how much a difference you can make and how you can change a person’s life alongside their pet’s life. There’s no better feeling!

Beckie is happily married as of 2021 and has a home of 4 cats that are very spoiled and loved. She loves to watch TV with her husband and also read and play video games in her free time!

Chelcie is from Plain City Ohio and went to Ohio Wesleyan for her undergraduate and received a degree in Zoology. After receiving her degree, she went to Columbus State Community College for her Veterinary Technician certification. She knew no matter what profession she chose it was going to be working with animals and helping them when in need. Her favorite thing about working with animals is just how loving, selfless, and forgiving they are. Chelcie knew she was in the right profession and right place when she didn’t think she needed to continue to look anymore. She was comfortable and felt appreciated by her friends, family, clients, patients, and work family.

Chelcie is the oldest in her family and has her awesome parents along with her younger brother and younger sister. She has many pets, too! Her pets include her two dogs (Theodore and Jezzie) and her cats that just seem to find her (Princess, Perseus, Teeny Tina, Queenie, Newt, and Mooney). When not working, Chelcie enjoys being outside, playing video games with her brother, spending time with friends, family, and her animals, and going to dive bars as well as breweries.

Audra lived in Ohio all her life! She grew up in Dublin and went to OSU to earn a BS in Animal Sciences. She started working at Fifth and Kenny while going to tech school at Columbus State and after graduating she became a full-time RVT. She has been a part of our family since 2010. Audra loves her job! She was born to work with animals, there never really was a plan B for her. Her favorite part of working with animals is helping to make them feel better and earning their trust. Visiting the vet can be such a stressful experience for a lot of pets and she loves making it as comfortable and easy as she can for them. While this career can be very challenging, she really cherishes helping our furry family members feel better.

When she is not at work, Audra enjoys spending time at home with her husband and pets. They have a dog named Raymond and 3 cats (Jekyll, Luna, and Hoss). She loves playing games, running, and going to Columbus Blue Jackets games.

Veterinary Assistant

Baylie has been with Fifth & Kenny Animal Hospital since 2019. They went to school at Ohio State University and moved to Columbus in 2016. They are hoping to be a veterinary technician in the future. Baylie’s favorite thing about working with animals is watching them grow up. When they are not at work, Baylie likes to paint and does a lot of pet portraits. They also fosters kittens for local rescues until they can get adopted.

Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist

Kim started with us in October 2019 and was born and raised here in Columbus. She attended the Ohio State University. She has always loved animals and has also known Dr. Custer his whole life. When the opportunity opened up to work with him and animals, she jumped on it! Her favorite thing about working with animals is getting to share the pure happiness that they project. It is also extremely rewarding when she feels that she has truly helped someone’s pet in some way.

After 30 years of working in retail management, Kim felt it was a breath of fresh air to turn around in her chair and see six dogs sitting there looking at her waiting for treats. She knew she was in the right place.

Kim’s family includes her partner and four cats. She considers herself a total nerd and loves geeky things. She has a special passion for Xena: Warrior Princess.

Veterinary Assistant

Mackenzie joined our animal hospital in 2019. She is from Cambridge, OH and went to Ohio State ATI to gain an associate’s in Biochemical Science. She went on to graduate from Ohio State in Columbus with a bachelor’s in Animal Science. Through school, Mackenzie enjoyed living in the area so she decided to stay with Fifth and Kenny post-graduation. She is eager to continue her education in the future and is applying to vet school!

Working in the veterinary field has been an inspiration since she was young. Mackenzie’s favorite part of working with animals is their honesty. You see the wagging tail waiting by the treat container and the ones who are a little nervous and need some extra attention. Fifth and Kenny is a second family to her. She knew she was in the right place because it feels like home here. It’s such a nice feeling to pick up the phone and the client know your name by the sound of your voice.

When Mackenzie is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and four nephews. She likes to be on the lake with her family or reading at home.
